At the YMCA of Columbia, we offer comprehensive swim lessons for all ages, starting from 6 months to adult. It takes about 12 to 20 lessons for young children to learn and perform basic swimming strokes, skills, and safety habits.

It is the most widely known framework for swimming lessons for children and is the backbone of swimming lessons for primary school aged children. Each of the seven Stages of the Swim England Learn to Swim Framework have a clear set of targets for the swimmer to meet so that they can progress to the next Stage.

Float flat on your back, and do a flutter kick with your legs. With your arms, do the "crawl" motion, lifting one arm straight into the air and keeping it straight as it re-enters the water next to your head.
